Adelaide "Adda" Slaughter was a Black Mask Hunter of the House of Slaughter. She was a fierce and powerful hunter who trained Jessica and Cecilia Slaughter, though the latter would later transfer to the White Mask branch. In her elderly age, Adda would be succeeded as the Head of the Black Masks by Jessica, who would care for her until her death.
History[]
Adda was a hunter under The Order of St. George, and would eventually become the leader of the Black Masks at the House of Slaughter. Her totem was a stuffed dog, named Wuppy Puppy.
She was noted to be the trainer of both Jessica and Cecilia Slaughter;[1] she did not train many apprentices, due to her fear for the emotional toll the job could take on a person.[2] Cecilia would eventually become a White Mask, leaving Adda and Jessica alone until Jessica would accept Aaron as an apprentice. Eventually, Adelaide would become elderly and wheelchair-bound, and would retire and remain living in the House of Slaughter. By the time Erica Slaughter entered the House (c. 2000), she was silent and spent most of her time staring out the window. This was a product of both her age and the trauma she experienced during her time hunting. She started crying upon seeing the new recruit, and Jessica promised that she wouldn't let anything bad happen to her.[1]
Even after her death, her wheelchair would remain in the Black Room of the House.[2]
