Synopsis[]

When Erica's Handler forces a confrontation on the street of Archer's Peak, Erica must decide where her loyalties lie — to her employers, or to the people who need her?[1]

Plot[]

Principal Collins calls for Sophie Mahoney's family, and her mother gets ready to go inside.

In the forest, Sheriff Cavanaugh tells the officers to pull aside the Parker family to tell them about their children, but not to let them do anything stupid and cause a scene. He will arrest Tommy Mahoney, but he wants everyone sent home. Tommy tells the Sheriff that he should know that he didn't do this, and that the monsters could come back at any minute. Aaron Slaughter arrives, telling him to go to the school while he watches Tommy. As the Sheriff leaves, Tommy figures out that Aaron is from Erica's organization, and tells him that the monsters are no longer just attacking children. Aaron loads a syringe, and prepares to kill Tommy.

Erica Slaughter, Tam and James arrive at the school, but the policemen tell them to turn around and come back tomorrow. Erica and James leave the car and run up to the school, where the families refuse to leave. Erica demands information from Joe, and figures out that there are not only three new bodies, but children in the parking lot. She tells Joe to get the children away from there as fast as possible, and to have Tim take James deep into the school to hide. She then rushes to where Aaron was left, as families in the lot continue to argue.

Aaron drugs Tommy and pulls out a knife, but is blocked by Erica. She shouts to him that there are five oscuratypes in the woods and children in the parking lot, before passing Tommy off to Joe. Aaron realizes that the monsters will have grown with each kill, and three bodies are not enough to feed all of them. She tells him that while he and the order worry about the rules, real people are dying.

In the parking lot, a little girl playing with a paper plane spots the Oscuratypes. As Joe and Tommy return, Tommy desperately yells for someone to save the girl, as she is lifted into the air. With the adults unable to see the monsters, they simply see her float into the air and be ripped in half. Tommy saves his mother from getting hit by the Oscuratype, as everyone flees into the school. James tells Tim to get all the children inside immediately, which he reluctantly does, shepherding the families into the gymnasium.

Seeing the monsters and knowing they're in a blood frenzy, Aaron tells Erica to take James and Bian to draw the monsters into a trap while he fights the monsters. He tells her that she knows what the Order will do now that so many people have seen a monster attack, and to let him work. She tells Tommy that he's not going to fight them, as Aaron is killed by the Oscuratypes.
