Something Is Killing the Children #15 is a horror comic from James Tynion IV and Werther Dell'Edera that was published on February 24, 2021 by Boom! Studios. It is the fifteenth issue in the Something Is Killing the Children comic series, the final issue of the five-part A Game of Nowhere arc, and the final issue of the fifteen-part Archer's Peak saga.
Synopsis[]
The Order of St. George needs a scapegoat to hide the existence of monsters from the world. Erica's actions will determine what is to become of Archer's Peak, and ultimately, the House of Slaughter.[1]
Plot[]
Erica kills the last of the Oscuratypes, then walks into the house and douses her head in cold water. She tells James and Bian to bring her her backpack. She calls the House, and tells them to tell the White Masks that the brood are dead, and it's time to go home. She then asks James if she can use his shower.
Cecilia gets the call, and then enters the gym and tells Maxine to stand down. She tells Joe Cavanaugh to arrest Tommy, and make sure everyone understands the cover story. She tells Principal Collins that the school will receive a donation to cover repairs, in exchange for him never reporting the damage. She then reprimands Maxine for barging into the school with weapons, and declares that this is over.
One week later, a news reporter describes the killings as murders by Tommy Mahoney, including Officer John Richards, and that his arraignment will be next week. Ms. Mahoney cries over her daughter's grave. Erica watches the missing posters be taken down at the bus station. The Old Dragon meets here there, and asks if she remembers when she attempted to run away to DisneyWorld. Jessica came to get her, and told her that while the Order was "old and stodgy and stuck in its ways," without it, children would die, and nobody would know why. Erica insists that she will refuse to care less, that if she had followed orders, more people would have died and nobody would have had closure.
The Dragon asks her to come home as the last Black Mask in the House of Slaughter, and take Jessica's place in the Council, change it from the inside. She refuses, saying she renounces the House of Slaughter and will hunt monsters as a renegade. On the bus, she meets with James. He assures her that he's not coming with her, but that he's going to Milwaukee to stay with his mother for a bit. He also tells her that Bian's family can't be found, and she's been adopted by Gail. She says she knows, and that she's been watching the kids to make sure there weren't loose ends. James then thanks her for letting him help, and hugs her as the bus drives off.
