Synopsis[]

Plot[]
Immediately following the death of her best friend and parents and the binding of Octo, a young Erica sits in shock as Jessica Slaughter calls home and insists upon bringing the girl home with her, stunned at her ability to nearly kill an Oscuratype with no training. She tells Cecilia that she doesn't care how mad he will be with her, that she made a call and both her and Erica will live with it. She then approaches Erica, explaining that the monster is now inside of Octo. Erica directs her to their tupperware to store Octo inside of, then asks if she wants to become a monster-hunter to prevent more children from dying. She tells Erica to say goodbye to her parents and friend, and then tells her to take a shower, since she stinks.
On the drive to the House, Erica has a nightmare, remembering her friend Becca tripping and falling as they ran from the monster. Erica turned back for her, only to watch her die. She awakens to find that the two women have reached Chicago, and asks why Jessica seems nervous. Jessica tells her that she's smart, which Erica doesn't believe, as she doesn't get good grades; Jessica informs her that good grades only mean you're good at following directions. She then warns Erica that the House has strict rules, and the people inside the House will likely bully her for not knowing the rules they grew up with. However, she trusts Erica to be able to outlast the bullies due to her perceptive nature.
Arriving at the House of Slaughter, the pair are greeted by a young Aaron Slaughter, who is surprised to see Erica and disgruntled at the idea of having a sister. Erica asks if he's one of the bullies, and Jessica says that he's not, but that he pretends to be because "the bullies bully him." Cecilia then enters and reprimands Jessica for not following traditional protocol. She tells Jessica that she will begin the induction rites the next day, which causes the women to argue. Erica asks if Cecilia is one of the bullies, and Jessica spitefully says that she is. The women then enter to speak with The Old Dragon, with Erica being quickly provided a spare bandana, told she'll need to wear it at all times.
