Something Is Killing the Children #6 is a horror comic from James Tynion IV and Werther Dell'Edera that was published on March 18, 2020 by Boom! Studios. It is the sixth issue in the Something Is Killing the Children comic series, the first issue of the five-part The House of Slaughter arc, and the sixth issue of the fifteen-part Archer's Peak saga.

Synopsis[]

Erica may have slayed the beast terrorizing Archer's Peak, but the town is far from safe. As James recuperates from the horrible events of the last issue, Tommy also struggles to find his place in the new status quo of his life.[1]

Plot[]

The issue begins with James having a nightmare, remembering his last sleepover with his friends. He, Karl, Noah and Tyler leave the house in order to find the monster James described. Noah sees the monster first, just as James trips and stumbles down the hill. He hears his friends scream.

Erica Slaughter watches over a sleeping James in the hospital, as Tommy Mahoney approaches her. She says that it's up to James to report who shot him, and that she doesn't plan on telling him anything. When Tommy protests, Erica breaks his arm, and promises him that he does not want to know anything more than he's already seen. She then tells him to go out of state for a while, and he realizes that this isn't over.

At the den, Joe and Tim Cavanaugh look over the pile of body parts. While Joe assures him that they won't get any media attention, Tim tells him that they won't be able to fit all of the bodies in the morgue, and that they're commandeering the school gymnasium. Officer Richards arrives unexpectedly and asks Joe what's going on. Joe tells him he doesn't know, and asks where Bian is. Richards realized someone has "gotten to" Joe, convincing him to keep quiet and not ask questions.

Erica approaches Bian at the police station, being watched over by a secretary named Gail; Bian invites her to draw with her. She tells Bian that something bad lives inside of Octo, and then looks at Bian's drawing of the monster's babies. Bian tells her that the babies would eat the dead kids, while the mother would eat the live ones. Erica asks how many babies there were, and Bian says there were five. She says she is worried about the bodies being removed from the cave, as it means the babies wouldn't be able to eat; she then shows Erica a drawing of her killing the mother. Bian then looks at Erica's drawing of her house, and says that it looks scary.

At the House of Slaughter, Cecilia Slaughter tells Aaron that The Old Dragon has ordered him to go to Archer's Peak to deal with Erica's mess. Aaron argues that this isn't his fault, as Erica has never followed orders well. Cecilia tells him that the Dragon expects the two of them to both be grown-up now. She orders Aaron to relieve Erica of her duty, and finish the job himself. He says that she won't return, and Cecilia tells him that any further breaking of protocol will be his fault. She then tells him to kill Tommy Mahoney, as the House of Slaughter will not take in another stray like Erica.
