Something Is Killing the Children #8 is a horror comic from James Tynion IV and Werther Dell'Edera that was published on July 8, 2020 by Boom! Studios. It is the eighth issue in the Something Is Killing the Children comic series, the third issue of the five-part The House of Slaughter arc, and the eighth issue of the fifteen-part Archer's Peak saga.

Synopsis[]

Erica's employers, the mysterious Order of St. George, have taken control of Archer's Peak and sealed it off from the outside world. But can they hope to quarantine the damage caused by the monsters... and Erica Slaughter?[1]

Plot[]

James awakens in the hospital, with Sheriff Joe Cavanaugh sitting in his room. Joe admits to James that nothing makes sense to him, but that everyone seems to be against him at the moment. He asks for James to tell him about the "aliens," and James corrects him that they're monsters. James says that he sort-of trusts Erica, that she doesn't seem to like the people she works for, and that she stabbed Tommy Mahoney with something that made him see monsters. He asks if the Sheriff is okay, and Joe says that he is not.

At the police station, Bian asks Gail if she'd ever seen a dead body. Gail says that she had seen her father die, but felt that it was peaceful, as he was suddenly no longer in pain. Bian asks if anything tried to eat him, as Erica and Aaron Slaughter enter and tell Bian they are going to leave. Against Aaron's wishes, Erica tells Bian that she can bring her drawing supplies. Officer Richards then comes in with his gun drawn, telling Bian that she can take her markers if she comes with him instead. When Gail attempts to call the Sheriff, Aaron knocks her out, scaring Bian. Richards reveals he knows about their plan to use Bian as bait. Bian turns against Erica when she realizes Erica is going to hurt the child monsters, as she sees them as only babies who don't know they're doing anything bad. Aaron charges for Richards, but Erica knocks him out. She allows Richards to take Bian, telling him to take her somewhere safe and hidden.

At the school, where the families are still waiting to identify their children, Tim Cavanaugh begins to speak. He tells them that they are going to check their names with Principal Collins, and that he knows this is rough on everyone, but they need to understand each other's fear and have solidarity. Collins then asks for the family of Alyssa Dean to come forward. Tommy remarks that this is going to take hours, and Ms. Mahoney tells him to do something better than complain. Tommy calls Tam to get a ride out of town, but hangs up when he sees an Oscuratype in the woods.

Aaron awakens in the police station, angry at Erica. She tells him that she will get his bait, if he finds them a place to do the ritual. Aaron warns her that only one kill will make the monsters deadlier.

Tommy goes into the woods, and calls Tam, telling her to find Erica and tell her that the monsters are behind the school, and they got another kid. The Oscuratypes then descend on Tommy.
